Close encounters of the blog kind...
It's so weird how sometimes everything just zeroes in on one thing, occasionally.
It's been like that the last 24 hours.
First things first... hardcore Flames fan that I am, I couldn't miss the opportunity to check out the farmhands as they visited Toronto for the one and only time this season. (Nearly missed it - if I listened to anything else besides Y108 from Hamilton I undoubtedly would have).
And death wish that I have, I wore a Flames T-shirt there. This made me easily identifiable to other Flames fans there, some of whom were in the row in front of me. I guess one of them took pity on lonely, solo me - she turned around during the first intermission and hands me a piece of paper with URLS to a couple of blogs.
What she doesn't know is that I already read them. Not obsessively, but they get looked at once a week or once a month or something.
Verdict: We were both pretty excited.
I was actually inspired enough for an instant to contemplate running my own hockey blog, since there are so few good Flames ones. But honestly, between a day job and all the slacking around I do when I'm not there, I don't have the time/energy to do the boys any justice at all.
Upon returning, I discovered that a cranky little comment I left on a blog belonging to friends and friends of friends had got me props. After the burn I delivered to his ex-roommate, my friend Rob threw out an invite to join the blog, which I cheerfully (or maybe more like crankily - look for my inaugural post) accepted...
And of course, now I'm blogging about blogs. Didn't I swear once not to do this?

You're so funny. You should start your own hockey blog then I won't be stranded as lone female Flames fan in the blogosphere.

Aggghhhh! Don't tempt me :D
I've given it a lot of thought over the last week or so and I don't think I could keep up with the volume of posting I'd want to do...
(not just the posting but all the pretty web design and pictures and videos and stuff. I have no eye for design.)
I will strive to strew more pithy comments everywhere though....
