Currently reading

I've noticed my last few posts have been absurdly long (and yes, I have been scolded for my sins). So in response to that, something short and sweet - a list of books that I'm partway through:
  • The Alexandria Quartet by Lawrence Durrell. (If you thought Possession was tedious...I'd avoid this too. The prose is awesome though, even if I keep on losing track of who the characters are)
  • Feersum Endjinn by Iain M. Banks (Exactly the kind of thing you expect from a guy who was an extra on Monty Python and the Holy Grail. evreythin es fonetk. nd it iz pnfol.)
  • Various guidebooks to China and Hong Kong. ('Nuff said)
  • Song of the Lioness Quartet by Tamora Pierce (Comfort reading for me at its best. Though I thought when I was 10 that this was a pretentious name for the series...and I still do. And it's a pity that 20-odd books later, she's never written anything quite so good)
On tap for the trip: more Steven Erikson, a re-read of Possession, a re-read of The Dragon Never Sleeps, and probably the Durrell books. May raid my parents' bookcase for more.

I'll probably make ths topic a recurring one. We'll see.

And if you're still looking for stuff to read, I still can't recommend http://www.alexlit.com enough, when it's not broken. That's why it lives on my sidebar here.
