Non-hockey fans can just scroll past

Rather than continue recounting all the sordid details of my present, I'm going to rant about something completely different for a bit.

Those of you who are still reading probably know today was the NHL trade deadline. Usually, this is an event I ignore, unless one team (a certain team, and only that team) in the entire league does something interesting.

Not so much this year. I was downright obsessive the last two hours before the deadline hit.

Was it the increased amount of web-surfing time? (Yes, there has been an increase. And there has been a good reason. For those of you I'm baffling, I'll explain...one day. Really)

Don't think so.

Was it the lack of play last year?

Hell, no.

Was it participating in a real fantasy (Ed:oxymoron, I know, heh.) league, and really having to pay attention to more than the players of one club?

(Actually, it was multiple leagues. And I got my ass kicked. But more-than-zero is the key value here)

Not really.

I am going to blame my interest on the popularization of the blog. Yeah. Like... one of these.

See, my hockey news routine now involves checking anywhere from 2-5 blogs daily, for various teams, and various things. Some (other hockey fans who've talked to me recently will know which ones) I'm simply addicted to - others I go to get specific information, especially if there's certain events which have vaguely left an impression on me.

There's no way I would have done this two years ago. Internet radio was adequate to scratch the itch - there was no way I needed more.

And now?

I'm a monster.
